If you have fine jewelry or precious metals in your home that you no longer want or need, Cook County Buyers is the best option for resale.
Online auction sites may seem like an easy sell, but when you look more closely, they aren’t as great as they seem.
Cook County Buyers is a better choice for three very important reasons.
- First, I almost always give you more money than online auction sites.
- Second, I am convenient, local, and responsive.
- Third, there are no risks when you work with me.
If you’re still considering an online auction site, read below to see why Cook County Buyers can offer you a better deal.
Cook County Buyers Pays You More
What’s the bottom line when it comes to selling your fine jewelry or precious metals? You want to be able to get as much cash value for your item as you can.
Online jewelry auction websites sound like a good deal because you can list it from home, and you don’t have to drive around to various pawn shops or cash-for-gold locations.
I get it. Driving around to shops is a BIG hassle. It’s hard on your gas tank, you may have to travel to shady areas, and you often get disappointing news. Often the owners of those shops offer you far less than you were expecting. You go through a lot of trouble and effort, and then don’t end up with the cash in hand you were hoping for.
Unfortunately, online jewelry auctions are not much better. It’s true that you can list items from the comfort of your home, but the auction sites are not listing your items for free. They’re going to want a substantial cut of your profits at the end of the sale.
Let me show you the numbers, so you can really see the difference between selling to Cook County Buyers and using an online auction site.
Cook County Buyers vs. Worthy
Worthy.com is an online auction website that lists high-end items. They often deal with the same items that I do at Cook County Buyers. Worthy.com, and other sites like it, are a common choice for people looking to sell high-value jewelry or precious metals.
- Recently, someone listed a 14k gold, custom, three-diamond ring on Worthy.com. The ring sold for $3,742.
- At first glance, this may seem like a sizable payout, and again, all from the comfort of your own home.
- However, as the seller, you do not get to keep the full $3,742. Worthy.com takes a 22% fee for items up to $5,000 and 15% for items that sell for $5,000 — $50,000.
- So instead of making $3,742, you would be putting $2,918.76 in your bank account. That’s an $823 dollar difference.
- For the same ring, I would have paid you $3,900. You would be making almost $1,000 more selling to me.
Here are a few more examples of Worthy payouts vs. mine:
- Round Cut Solitaire: Worthy price $2,015 (Actual $1,571.70), My price $2,100
- Round Cut Bridal Set: Worthy price $1,585 (Actual $1,236.30), My price $1,800
- Round Cut Tennis Bracelet: Worthy price $2,970 (Actual $2,316.60), My price $3,200
- Round Cut Stud Earrings: Worthy price $4,112 (Actual $3,207.36), My price $4300
Cook County Buyers vs. EBTH
Another popular jewelry auction site is EBTH.
Recently on EBTH.com, a men’s Rolex submariner wristwatch sold for $5,000. I, too, would have paid you $5,000. However, EBTH also takes a sizable portion of your sale. For sales:
- $76 to $250 dollars, EBTH takes a payout of 40%.
- $251 to $750, they take 35%.
- $751 to $2500, they take 30%
- $2500 to $5000, they take a cut of 25%
- Anything above $5001? They take 15%.
Going back to the Rolex wristwatch, I would have also paid $5,000. However, I would give you the full $5,000 by cash or check. EBTH would have taken an additional 25%, leaving you with only $3,750.
That’s $1250 you could have put in your pocket — but didn’t, because you used an online auction site.
Here are a few more examples of EBTH payouts vs. mine:
- Diamond and Ruby Stud Earrings: EBTH price $12,078 (Actual $10,266.30), my price $12,000
- Vintage Tiffany Platinum Diamond Solitaire: EBTH price $9,001 (Actual $7650.85), my price $9,000
- Tiffany Platinum Diamond Solitaire: EBTH price $4,750 (Actual $3,562.50), my price $4,000
- Palladium Diamond Ring: EBTH price: $4,350 (Actual $3,262.50), my price $4200
Cook County Buyers Is Convenient
One of the most appealing things about online auction sites is that you are not required to travel to many locations trying to sell your items. Your direct interaction with the public is limited, and this can be appealing for many people looking to sell their high-end items.
If you work with me, I promise to make the experience as simple and convenient as possible and limit your travel and headache. Here’s how.
I Meet You Where You Feel Safe
Cook County Buyer’s Office Location (By Appointment Only)
The CCB office in Skokie is the best location to assess your valuables. It’s created with my clients’ comfort and convenience in mind, and has professional lighting and scaling equipment at the ready. I can evaluate your items quickly and efficiently, in a secure environment where you will feel safe.
Location of Your Choice (Public Restaurant, Etc.)
Several of my clients are unable to come out to my office for one reason or another. Either it’s difficult for them to get out, or they don’t own a car. In the event that you are unable to meet at my office, I will come to you at a location of your choice.
Immediate Pre-qualifying Quotes
Before we set up an in-person meeting, I am able to offer you a rapid pre-qualification.
If you’re able to send me a photo of your precious item, I can reply with a quote through text or email.
I offer this service because I don’t want to waste your time or mine. If I can’t offer close to your asking price, you will know before we have an in-person meeting.
I offer this service in a very timely manner, and can usually tell you very quickly what I would expect to pay for your item.
Quick Scheduling and Transparent Valuation
The next step in the process – once you consent to the quote I issued – is to schedule a meeting. I am usually able to make appointments on the very day that you call.
If your items are accurate to the description that was given, my offer will almost always be within the range that was mentioned in the preliminary estimate.
It’s very important to me that my clients know what I’m offering them, and why I’m offering it. I will always explain my valuation process so my clients know exactly how I arrived at my final price. I always give my best offer, based on the fair market value of the day. This means there’s no need for awkward or uncomfortable haggling.
Quick Turnaround
When you work with Cook County Buyers, you will not have to wait weeks or months to get cash in hand. As soon as I receive an inquiry from you, I begin working. I’m usually able to offer a pre-qualifying quote almost immediately, and I’m often able to do an in-person valuation the day you call, or shortly after.
I’m able to pay you the day we meet — which means the money is in your pocket right away. I never make you wait for payment on a future date.
With an online auction site, your wait would be much longer. First, you would have to mail your items to the auction site. Then, you would have to wait for the auction site to value your item and list it. Finally, you would have to wait for your item to be auctioned on the site.
With Cook County Buyers, everything can be arranged based on your schedule. In some cases, that may mean cash in your pocket the very same day you contact me.
Risk-free With Cook County Buyers
When you work with me, there are absolutely no risks involved. I explain my entire process, so there are no unknowns or uncertainties. You’ll know that your item is completely safe under my care.
Guaranteed Price
If you’re selling through an online auction site, there’s no guarantee that you will make a certain amount of money. Auctions depend entirely on whether people are interested in purchasing your item, or not. You may end up with more than you were expecting, or you may end up with well below what you were hoping.
If you work with me, you will know exactly what you’re getting. My business is run with very low overhead, which means that I’m able to offer very fair and competitive prices – every time.
Your Item Won’t Be Lost or Broken in Shipping
When you work with an online auction site, you will likely have to mail your item or items to their office. There’s always a risk that your item(s) will be damaged or misplaced in the shipping process.
With Cook County Buyers, there’s no risk that your item will become misplaced or damaged. Your items are valued and purchased on the spot, so there is no possibility of something happening to your precious jewelry or metals.
Cook County Buyers Offers the Best Deal
While many people do choose to use online auction sites, my local business can’t be beat. I go out of my way to make sure that you’re able to sell your items hassle-free.
I’m almost always able to offer you the best price. Because we’re able to meet in person, I’m able to ease your concerns face-to-face. An online auction site has a certain level of detachment, and you may feel that you’re not getting the best value for your item.
Your high-value items are important to you. You want to make sure that you’re working with someone you can trust. I always take the time to explain each step of my valuation process and offer you a thorough explanation of my final offer.
I want you to be completely comfortable with the process, and to trust that I’m giving you a fair and competitive offer. Making you feel at ease is my highest priority.
If you choose to do business with me, I promise to make the transaction as simple as possible. I will offer you my best price based on fair market value, and pay you the day we meet.
You can’t ask for an easier sale than that. That’s the Cook County Buyer’s advantage.
